All of it and why by AKLee open for viewing Monday - Friday 11am - 6pm and Saturday from 2 - 6pm.

"Most of my work involves the viewer, you need to add a final element. This can help make it your own as you notice yourself making links between elements given in each piece.

It’s been as much an allowing process as a doing process. Very often I know the key stepping stones through a piece but other steps only become apparent once I start.

In a year I might get 6 or 8 weeks of new work, the rest of the time I’m nudging unfinished work hoping for the next step to emerge and, when they do, every step is always blindingly obvious in retrospect. Very often the second last version of a piece is often the best, it is possible to pull too much away and what’s essential to a piece can sometimes be a surprise.

I avoid having a signature style because I find them restrictive and self-conscious. A signature style also requires an assumption that others would somehow benefit from seeing the world through the eyes of the Artist. My work is deeply personal but never autobiographical and I cleave to giving each piece what it most appropriately needs." AKLee
